Tikal is a prominent character in the Sonic the Hedgehog video game series, debuting in Sonic Adventure. She is an ancient Echidna girl who lived approximately 4,000 years prior to the events of the games.

Tikal was the daughter of Chief Pachacamac, a warlord seeking power through the Chaos Emeralds. However, Tikal opposed her father's violent ambitions, feeling a deep connection to nature and the Chao creatures that inhabited the Mystic Ruins.

Seeing her father's relentless pursuit of the Chaos Emeralds, which culminated in an assault on the Chao Shrine, Tikal desperately prayed to the Master Emerald. Her plea resulted in her sealing herself and Chaos, a being angered by Pachacamac's actions, within the Master Emerald, preventing further destruction.

In Sonic Adventure, Tikal appears as a spirit or conscious memory, guiding Sonic and his friends with warnings and advice. Her presence is crucial in understanding the history of Chaos and the dangers posed by his release.

She ultimately helps Sonic to quell Chaos's rage, allowing the being to ascend to a state of peace. Tikal's role as a protector of nature and advocate for peace remains a significant part of Sonic lore.
